Young Actors Theatre, co-founded in 1995 by Kennedy & Wanda Waller, is a popular summer camp offering quality instruction in all aspects of drama and musical theatre, culminating in a live performance of a full-length Broadway musical. This beloved four-week summer intensive gives practical on-stage experience as well as professional workshop opportunities in auditioning, theatre games and improvisation, dance, vocal music, and acting to our next generation of theatre-makers.

Experienced and beginners welcome. All performances are open to the public. Students learn from professionals. The camp experience also includes a group trip to see a professional theatre production in the Baltimore area.

Off and running!

Young All-Stars Theatre is a beginner musical theatre camp offering a fun-filled two weeks that aims to leave our performers feeling confident on the stage! Campers will delight in learning and performing a shortened version of a Broadway musical that is specially designed with kids in mind. By the time these young actors experience the encouraging casting process, the fast-paced rehearsals, creative workshops taught by local professionals and opening night, they'll feel like All-Stars!

All levels are welcome, especially first-timers! Space is limited so that each child can receive individualized instruction. Special attention is paid to cultivating the skills of creativity, ensemble work, collaboration and self-confidence.

Rachel Ayers Waller (pictured above, left) is the Producing Artistic Director of YAT Productions. She runs both camps, Young Actors Theatre

and Young All-Stars Theatre, and she loves the energetic whirlwind that these two groups bring to her summer each year. Rachel had big shoes to fill with Young Actors Theatre when she took the reigns from co-founders Ken & Wanda Waller in 2013. The joy and dedication she witnessed in those young performers encouraged her and her husband Jonathan to launch Young All-Stars Theatre in 2016. She has always loved theatre, from her first school play, to receiving her degree in musical theatre performance from Point Park University, to her years in

New York City as a general manager with the Tony Award-winning Roundabout Theatre Company. During the school year, Rachel is the

Chair of Performing Arts at Garrison Forest School where she teaches theatre and directs the Upper School plays and musicals.

Jonathan K. Waller (pictured above, right) is the Business Consultant for YAT Productions. He brings fiscal oversight, artistic consultation and media design to each of the company's endeavors. He and his wife Rachel are proud to carry on the Waller family tradition of bringing theatre opportunities to young performers. He is also a composer & lyricist having graduated from New York University with a degree in Musical Theory & Composition. Most days of the week, Jonathan can be found at Everyman Theatre in downtown Baltimore where he serves and supports the theatre as their Director of Brand & Marketing.

Kennedy & Wanda Waller (Co-Founders Emeritus of Young Actors Theatre)  Young Actors Theatre was established in 1995 by W. Kennedy Waller and Wanda W. Waller. The Wallers, in an effort to discover an appropriate theatre experience for their own two sons, were having difficulty finding a quality program in the Baltimore County area for young people between the ages of ten and sixteen. Having a personal

love for musical theatre and for teaching, they took the risk of developing Young Actors Theatre - and in 2015 they were thrilled that their

beloved summer camp celebrated its 20th season. Ken & Wanda were both long-standing Middle School teachers, making positive impacts

on students at McDonogh School, Roland Park Country and Park School.
